September 9, 2026 · Launch

Open Music Player arrives on the App Store.

The first public release puts the listener’s own files and folders at the center of a focused music player for iPhone and iPad.

Your library, on your terms

Open Music Player was created for people who already own an audio collection and want a straightforward way to enjoy it. Instead of scanning the entire device, the app indexes only the files and folders selected through the system interface.

A connected folder can be refreshed when its contents change or disconnected without deleting the original audio. The library itself can also be cleared safely while source files stay where the user stored them.

The essentials from day one

  • Songs, favorites, albums and artists built from local files.
  • Queue, shuffle, repeat, equalizer and sleep timer.
  • Background playback and Lock Screen controls.
  • Optional song identification from the microphone or a selected audio file.
  • No required account, advertising or subscription.

Available now

Open Music Player first became publicly available on September 9, 2026 as version 1.1.0. It is offered as a one-time purchase; App Store pricing varies by country.
