Open Music Player was created for people who already own an audio collection and want a straightforward way to enjoy it. Instead of scanning the entire device, the app indexes only the files and folders selected through the system interface.

A connected folder can be refreshed when its contents change or disconnected without deleting the original audio. The library itself can also be cleared safely while source files stay where the user stored them.

Open Music Player first became publicly available on September 9, 2026 as version 1.1.0 and was initially offered as a one-time purchase. On September 17, 2026, Open Music Player became free in every country and region where it is distributed.
